Bronze maquette made as part of David Wynne’s studies for The Queen Mother’s Gate, Hyde Park Corner, London. The mythical unicorn is one of the two supporters of the Royal Coat of Arms (the other, of course, is the lion). David Wynne was commissioned by HRH Prince Michael of Kent in 1991 to design a gate for the S.E. corner of Hyde Park, London, to celebrate the long life and contribution of HM Elizabeth The Queen Mother (1900 – 2002). The gate was unveiled by HM The Queen in July 1993.
