A pair of George III mahogany library armchairs. The backs covered in tapestry (modern replacement of original still intact in part) with needlepoint emblem of wheatsheaf encircled by the motto of the Order of the Garter “honi soit qui mal y pense” and surmounted by a ducal coronet, the seats similarly covered in tapestry with needlepoint ‘B’ surrounded by a wreath and ducal coronet. These chairs were photographed in catalogue for 1923 sale.
