Matching side table designed by Sir John Soane, painted wood, faux marble top, ivory tracery, twin columns resting on incurved platform. The pair to this table may be found at the Victoria & Albert Museum. This table formed part of the furniture that Soane degined for the Gothic Library at Stowe created at the request of the Marquess of Buckingham to house his Gothic and Irish manuscript collection. Soane designed the room 1805 taking inspiration from Henry VII’s Chapel at Westminster, to show the Marquess’s connection to royalty.
