Crown Prince Fredrick, subsequently Frederick III German Emperor and King of Prussia (1831-88), married Victoria, Princess Royal, oldest child of Queen Victoria in 1858.
Tito Angelini was one of many Italian sculptors who moved to Paris, exhibiting there regularly and winning a mention honorable for his bust of the Duchesse d’Aumale. Upon his return to Italy, he was made professor of sculpture at the Naples Academy, from where he was commissioned to sculpt the marble bust of Ferdinando II for the elegant octagonal room known as the Sala Ottagona in the Vesuvius Observatory. He is mainly remembered as a sculptor of portrait busts intricately observed from life.
